The design phase of the project is critical to producing a web site that is easy to
navigate, loads quickly and provides information in an organized fashion to end users.
Using
an existing "template" will significantly reduce your development costs. A
template is a pre-designed web site, complete with a "theme", navigation bars,
buttons and bullets. A wide variety of templates are available to suit most needs.
Creating a custom template will increase the development cost, but will also give your
web site a totally unique look.
- Design Home Page
This phase will begin with the design of a home page, a single "linked" page and
a web site "map". The home page is the focus of the site and provides navigation
links to the rest of the site. This page is the basic template for the site, providing the
style, colors and "look" of your web site.
A
number of
design
options
are available for your new site.
-
Linked Pages
The "linked" page will have a design which compliments the "home"
page. This page will serve as the template for all other "linked" pages on the
site. Links to other web sites will be identified as well. The common "look" of
these pages gives the site a cohesive appearance and feel as the user navigates the site.
-
Web Site Map
The web site "map" provides a hierarchical graphical view of the site. It shows
each page in the site and its relationship to the rest of the web site.
-
View Web Site
When the initial model pages are completed, they will temporarily be loaded
onto
your host. This will allow you to view the pages and easily request
modifications. This process will continue until you are fully satisfied with the results.
-
Graphics and Text
During this phase, graphics to be included in the site, will be identified. You are
responsible for providing all text copy, except when otherwise agreed, in PC format (ASCII
text file or MSWORD). All written materials, which are to be included in the web site,
will be provided to us in this phase. We will review material content and offer any
appropriate suggestions for reorganization, modification, inclusion, and/or exclusion. Any
material which, in our judgment, is immoral, illegal or unethical, will not be included
in the web site.
-
Final Specifications
The specifications, at the conclusion of this phase, constitute your overall web site
plan.
